  "1976" (Bass Vibrations)

Patrice is, and has always been, deeply affected by place. A native of South Africa, she spent her childhood adventuring in that rich landscape on safari and continues to draw her energy from the natural world.  Whether depicting the powerful vistas of Killarney, Ontario, or the Arctic--a frontier Patrice longs to experience--she embraces both the strength and fragility of the world and the creatures that occupy this space. Playful, tranquil, mysterious, energetic...her paintings evoke an array of moods and she translates the natural world into redefined realities of colour and design.

In her new collection, Bass Vibrations, Patrice moves into the abstract.  Exploring her own childhood memories, she paints of the people and places she has loved. "Each place, each person, each experience leaves me with a lingering vibration of memory" she explains. "these paintings reflect what's stayed with me"

This is Patrice's fifth year with The Beach Guild of Fine Art in Toronto. She exhibits in the group's two shows, "Small Paintings for Small Spaces" at the historical Gardener's Cottage in Kew Gardens in the spring, and, in the fall, at "Art Down by the Bay" at the Lion's clubhouse in Ashbridges Bay. She has previously held the position of President for this group of 55 talented artists and currently serves as the Guild's publicist.

Patrice spends several days a week painting in her studio located in Toronto. She will often be found in arena's across Ontario nurturing the hockey careers of her two daughters.  A great deal of time is spent taking in the beauty and the laughter of her little boy.
